It’s the Buzz Word, The Hot Topic, or perhaps a Fad Diet? However, you say it; Gluten-Free food is everywhere you look! Precisely what is this Gluten anyway? Gluten is the protein found in wheat and acts like a gooey, sticky glue in the body. There are so many gluten free diet benefits that I have experienced. I have realized that many people with certain medical conditions have gluten intolerance.
Many people find that avoiding Gluten in their diet prevents symptoms similar to people with celiac disease, immune system challenges, weight loss struggles, and even deficiencies in vitamins and minerals. I could not believe that only 48 hours into a gluten-free diet, I enjoyed the many gluten free diet benefits. I had no idea that consuming Gluten was creating havoc in my body and created several nutritional deficiencies.
One of the gluten free diet benefits is experiencing autoimmune attacks reducing or stopping. Autoimmunity occurs when the immune system is triggered to attack whatever it wants. For me, it was my gut and thyroid primarily. Eating Gluten by mistake would create symptoms within minutes. I call it “getting glutened”.
People who need to avoid Gluten may start to realize Gluten is causing them to feel bloated and maybe have symptoms of IBS, gas, and constipation. They can also have non-gut-focused symptoms like brain fog, pain, headaches, hair loss, fatigue, acne, rashes, insomnia, and more.
If gluten sensitivities are not dealt with, the person can develop severe nutritional deficiencies such as anemia, osteoporosis, extreme fatigue, and in small extreme cases, lymphoma of the small intestine.
Gluten free diet benefits are skyrocketing among the autoimmune community. Consider Reading some of the (AIP) autoimmune paleo cookbooks for more guidance. There are so many testimonies of people that remove Gluten and have halted the attacks caused by autoimmunity. Plus, a Gluten-free diet can help if you are trying to lose weight and keep it off.
