functional medicine Functional Medicine uses any or all of these techniques to help you feel better: Holistic Nutrition, Naturopathy, Homeopathy, Alternative Medicine, Lifestyle, Hormone Balance and more. At a functional medicine clinic, the practitioner will want to get to know YOU and will focus on getting to the root cause of your health challenge and find a clear solution to help improve your health and well-being. Unlike a quick five to ten minute visit to a traditional practitioner, a functional medicine practitioner will usually spend at least 60 minutes with you during your initial appointment, so they truly understand YOU, your health, your goals and medical history. Many people just like you are choosing functional medicine over traditional medicine for different reasons. Some of the reasons that are pretty standard are: medications are not helping or causing more side effects, not feeling understood by their doctor(s), or they do not feel healthy even though their test results are normal. With functional medicine, well-being is taken into account, and it offers high-quality, comprehensive lab tests to get to the cause of health challenges, so there is a clear path to healing and health.

Many people have had their health issues reversed or have experienced major improvement in their health after opting for functional medicine. Functional medicine has given hope and healing to many people who have struggled for too long, and they thought there was no hope! Instead of being told what prescriptions to take, you will be working together in partnership with your functional medicine practitioner to help find what natural remedies may work best for YOU. After all, you are an individual with individual needs. A functional medicine clinician will also check for food reactions which may be contributing to your symptoms and health struggles.

Prescription medications are sometimes necessary, and we understand that! It is helpful when a functional medicine clinician can work with a primary care doctor to compliment a necessary medication regimen. They can also guide you if a medication may be contributing to adverse symptoms or nutrient deficiencies. I can attest for this myself; I (Maria) am on a prescription medication that causes side effects. Thankfully my naturopath was able to help me by ordering lab work to show that a vitamin deficiency was causing some of my symptoms. In my case the medication that I am taking caused me to be deficient in Vitamin D3 which could lead to other health issues further down the line. I sure am thankful that my naturopath recommended more extensive lab work for me! If you have been suffering from health problems, it is time to get proactive about your health! You could be on your way to your best health yet. With functional medicine there Is Hope!
