Our genetics can sometimes cause us to have concerns about our well-being, especially if you come from a family that has someone with an autoimmune disease. I understand this because I come from one of those families. My mother has hypothyroidism, and her grandmother had hypothyroidism too. In my early twenties, I had the autoimmune disease, hyperthyroidism. I now have Hashimoto’s which is autoimmunity against the thyroid gland, and both of my sisters have thyroid conditions. So, naturally, I do not want my daughters to suffer the same genetic predisposition, so they will need to take excellent care of themselves and properly understand autoimmune disease.
There are over 80 types of autoimmune diseases! They range from autoimmune thyroid, lupus, multiple sclerosis, fibromyalgia, autism, colitis, vitiligo, eczema, psoriasis, rheumatoid arthritis and much more! Just because one family member has a specific diagnosis of hashimoto’s does not necessarily mean that other family members will have the same autoimmune disease. For example, one person could have lupus, and someone else in the family could have celiac disease, but both are autoimmune.
While this news can sound discouraging, you should know that there is absolutely hope and help! More and more people are turning to natural healing by implementing an autoimmune supportive diet and autoimmune supportive protocol. They are now able to turn down the autoimmune attacks, reduce health challenges and symptoms mostly by avoiding trigger foods and taking certain supplements to support immune balance. The key is to avoid triggering or upsetting the immune system which triggers attacks. People all over the world are starting to understand how the food that they are feeding their bodies (especially with autoimmune diseases) is affecting them, either for better or for worse.
More good news! Not only can autoimmune diseases be tamed, but you can also have an Autoimmune Tissue Test done to expose the tissues in your body that are presently under attack, or that may be under attack in the future! This is great news because the immune system may be attacking the body years before someone has symptoms or gets diagnosed with an autoimmune disease.
